Updates: Asma Jahangir’s body shifted to Qaddafi Stadium for funeral


LAHORE: Body of renowned lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jahangir has been transported to Qaddafi Stadium where her funeral prayers will be offered. 

Preparations have been finalized at LCCA Ground for the funeral prayers.  The ground is full to its capacity with people from all walks of life getting ready to offer the prayers for her eternal peace.

Earlier, her body was shifted from hospital to her house where close relatives and family members cast a last and farewell glance at her. People in large number including members of her family, fellows, politicians, and have already arrived at her residence ahead of the funeral.

Haider Farooq Maududi will lead the funeral prayer at LCCA Ground adjacent to Qaddafi Stadium at 3pm today.

Asma will be laid to rest at her farmhouse located at Bedian Road.

The funeral prayer of renowned lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jahangir will be offered at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore this afternoon.

Asma Jahangir passed away after suffering from a cardiac arrest on Sunday in Lahore. She was 66.

She was the first woman to become President of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, besides heading the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.

Asma Jahangir was also known for her advocacy of issues like minorities’ rights and women’s rights.
