Test cricket has no future: Aaqib Javed

Former cricket player Aaqib Javed remarked that Test cricket will die out soon.

He said that Test cricket should be finished because no one watches it. “Except for the 22 players and umpires, no one else watches the match.”

He remarked that the grounds are empty and Test cricket is serving no purpose. “No one wants to play it and no one wants to see it,” he added.

Javed remarked that Pakistan doesn’t even have a home ground, so it should not play Test cricket.

On the other hand, former cricket team captain Javed Miandad thinks that Test cricket is ‘real cricket’ and it cannot be finished.

“Test cricket shows the strength and class of a player,” he told SAMAA TV. The cricket of ‘maar dhaar [hitting]’ may attract the crowd but it is real cricket, Miandad remarked.

“Test matches can be made interesting if good teams are playing,” he added.
