The Sindh government has launched a low-cost housing scheme for the people of Karachi.

The housing project has been launched in the Malir Development Authority’s Taiser Town Scheme-45. The scheme will allow people to get ownership of plots ranging from 80 square yards to 400 square yards by taking part in a ballot.

The government has set the price for 80 square-yard plots at Rs80,000, for 120 square-yard plots at Rs120,000, for 240 square-yard plots at Rs528,000 and for 400 square-yard plots at Rs1.2 million.

People can get the forms from any branch of Silk Bank after showing their CNIC or they can download it online. The forms are free.

To download the form, go to www.mda.gos.pk and select the ‘Download Form’ option at the top right corner of the page. It will take you to another page where you will be required to submit details such as your name, address, CNIC number, phone number and nationality among others. After entering the details, you will be able to download the form.

A person can apply for all four housing categories, but they will be required to submit a different form for each category. Any person who applies for the same category twice will be disqualified from the ballot and their booking fee will not be returned.

When submitting the form you will have to attach a copy of your CNIC and a pay order for the category. The pay order for 80 square-yard plots will be for Rs10,000, for 120 square-yard plots it will be Rs16,000, for 240 square-yard plots it will be Rs32,000 and Rs52,000 for 400 square-yard plots.

Residents of Karachi should attach the pay order with the form, while people from other areas should submit a demand draft in the name of ‘Taiser Town Scheme 45’.

If a person’s name comes up twice in the ballot, they will then have to choose one category and forego the other one.

All those who have already been allotted plots in the Taiser Town scheme are not eligible to apply for this scheme. The forms can be submitted by March 31, Sunday.
